Since the XFL was forced to suspend its season last year due to COVID, we’ve seen players move on to new opportunities. With the XFL on the sidelines for 2021 and maybe even 2022 depending on the outcomes of the discussions with the CFL, we’re seeing more names make the move. Today, we have another major player taking a new role.
Former Los Angeles Wildcats running back Martez Carter has signed on with the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League.

Many will remember Martez Carter from his week 3 performance against the DC Defenders, where he brought in two touchdowns and a two-point conversion. He didn’t just grabs some points, he did it in exciting fashion doing a front flip to get into the end-zone.
During the short five-week XFL season, Carter rushed for 49-yards for two touchdowns, averaging 3.1 yards per run.
The Indoor Football League is making some major moves since being sidelined due to covid, and capitalizing on the death of the AFL. Next year the league is expanding into a few new markets, including Oakland, CA and Las Vegas, NV. Did we mention, the Vegas franchise is owned by the same folks who own the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.
The league is looking to expand to 17 teams, from their current total of 12. With the IFL on the rise, Martez Carter is setup to become a star for the league in their building stages.
This is just another name among many who have made a move since the XFL’s departure. Do you plan on tuning into the Indoor Football League? Let us know down in the comments below or join the conversation on Discord.
