Last year a brand new form of football hit the market. Part arena and fan engagement, the world was introduced to Fan Controlled Football (FCF). In it’s first season it attracted a nice fanbase purely based on the entertainment factor that they were able to introduce to the game.
With the first season a success, the league is expanding for what they’re calling “Season 2.0”. FCF is not afraid to try new things, case in point the NFT’s that they’ll be launching this year. They’re also expanding their reach. Beyond airing all of their games on Twitch, they have signed a deal with NBC which will see their games played on NBCLX and their Peacock TV streaming app.
Up until now, we knew that they’re be returning in 2022, but now we know when. Earlier today in a FCF Twitter Space, it was announced that FCF Season 2.0 will be kicking off April 16th, 2022.
As mentioned in today's Twitter space hosted by @JiggaPorto with @sohrobf and @DrewAustin, FCF Week 1 kicks off April 16th.

This is definitely an interesting change as the new USFL is projected to start their season April 15th. Originally, FCF was set to held Season 2.0 this past October, but decided to move it up to give them more time to grow the product. Last season FCF started in February, but with this change we’re going to see some head-to-head football next April.
Earlier this month XFL co-owner shared some images on Instagram that shows the XFL is targeting a February 18th, 2023 return, so maybe the Fan Controlled Football league is trying to get ahead of that. In turn, they’ve just found new competition.
Regardless, we know that many spring football fans are awaiting the return of FCF and all the fun it brings along with it.
